Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI): ABACBS-2026 & BiocAsia-2026 Workshops

The ABACBS 2026 Organising Committee, in collaboration with the BiocAsia 2026 Organising Committee, invites proposals for specialised workshops to be held in conjunction with the annual conference.

Workshops are a core, highly popular feature of the ABACBS annual meeting. They provide an opportunity for researchers, industry experts, and educators to share technical expertise, introduce novel software/tools, and lead practical, hands-on sessions for the community. We encourage submissions covering a diverse range of foundational and cutting-edge topics, including but not limited to:

  1. Long-read sequencing

  2. High-throughput sequencing data analysis

  3. Single-cell and spatial omics

  4. Microbiome and metagenomics

  5. Scalable and reproducible workflows

  6. Compute infrastructure and cloud computing

  7. Machine learning and AI in genomics

Workshop Format

Dates: 19 November 2026 (Afternoon Session) and 20 November 2026 (Full Day)

Duration: Proposals can be for 1.5 hour short sessions, half-day sessions (approx. 3 hours excluding breaks) or full-day sessions (approx. 6 hours excluding breaks).

Delivery Mode: In-person / Online

Evaluation Criteria

The ABACBS 2026 Program Committee will evaluate submissions based on:

  1. Relevance and timeliness of the topic to the ABACBS community.

  2. Clarity of the learning outcomes and structural feasibility of the schedule.

  3. Presenter experience and ability to deliver interactive, hands-on content.

  4. Balanced representation of topics across the overall conference workshop program.

Note on High Demand: Workshop slots are limited and historically highly competitive. Organisers may occasionally be asked to modify or shorten their sessions to fit the final program scheduling.
