Brief position description:
You will evaluate and critique bioinformatics and computational biology workflows used to benchmark AI systems. The work focuses on whether models and technical tools handle complex biological problems accurately and reproducibly.
You will document methods, findings, and best practices so technical results can be explained clearly to different audiences.
Design and assess bioinformatics and computational biology workflows for AI benchmarking.
Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, NGS, RNA-seq, variant-calling, and protein-structure data.
Review pipeline parameters, tool settings, and statistical methods for accuracy and reproducibility.
Recommend improvements for biology-focused AI models and technical tools.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role.
Pay: $45 to $90 per hour.
Location: Open to candidates in the countries listed for this role, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, India, Japan, and other approved locations.
Language: Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
Education: PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or a closely related field, or equivalent industry or research experience.
Experience: Hands-on analysis of biological data, including NGS, RNA-seq, or variant-analysis datasets.
Technical skills: Python and/or R for scientific analysis, plus familiarity with BLAST, samtools, GATK, Bioconductor, or Biopython.
Workflow skills: Experience building reproducible workflows with Nextflow or Snakemake and working in Linux or command-line environments.
Core abilities: Strong statistical, quantitative, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Helpful background: AI or machine-learning-assisted biology workflows, single-cell analysis, structural biology, proteomics, drug discovery, prediction, retrosynthesis, peer-reviewed publications, patents, or open-source bioinformatics software.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
The hiring platform's application for this job asks for your resume, your LinkedIn profile, your phone number, your location and answers to 5 screening questions.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including reviewing model results and testing technical outputs. People with deep subject knowledge are needed to judge whether AI answers and workflows are accurate, useful, and reproducible.
