Support for ABACBS Members with Parenting or Carer Needs at ABACBS 2025

We’re committed to making ABACBS 2025 as accessible and supportive as possible. We know that childcare and carer responsibilities can be a barrier to attending conferences. Based on feedback from previous years, we’re taking a flexible approach to help meet our community’s needs.

We’ve booked an additional room at the venue that will serve as a carers’ space. This room will have the option to stream the main conference sessions live, just down the hall from the primary venue. That way, parents and carers can still participate in poster sessions and networking in person while having a dedicated space for children nearby.

If you’re planning to bring a partner, friend, or support person to help with childcare during the day, please let us know so we can help facilitate that.

We understand everyone’s needs are different. If you think you’ll need any additional childcare or carer support, please reach out to the organising committee, we’re eager to work with attendees to find the best solutions.

We’re also happy to help with ideas for local activities. For example, the Adelaide Zoo is just a 13-minute walk from the conference venue, and we can assist with organising tickets for partners or carers looking after children during the day.
